I have used photoshop to edit picture to practice basic skills in film, those pictures have been posted to my blog.

Blog 10: Senior Project Update

(1) What are you currently doing in your independent component?

Reading scripts and preparing to film.

(2) What is a recent piece of research (article, interview, or audio-visual) that have you reviewed you would say was significant in helping you understand where to go next in your senior project?  The piece of research should be something you reviewed in November.  Please explain what you learned and where are you going next because of this piece of research.

An important piece of research I found was about camera movement that will enhance my video.

(3) Provide evidence from your independent component or the piece of research as something you recently did.  For example, a photo of something you working on for your independent component or your notes from the video you watched.

  • How you move the camera will effect the way the audience interprets your scene because they are seeing through the point of view of your camera and their experience is altered of the decision you make.
  • Following the action. (Using all different types of equipment.)
  • Shoots will effect the emotion of your film, they should coincide with the point your trying to get across. There is a phycology to movement, but not one movement gives the same meaning.
  • Choose the best tools for the job.
  • Depending on the movement, there will be an emotional movement to the scene, not only literal.
  • Focus on the movement of great directors and the effect and placements of the camera movement.

Blog 2: Topic Choice

1. What is you topic and why?
My topic is camera operation. Last year when I was deciding on my topic I knew I wanted to do something film related. My favorite parts of film are special effects, directing, and animation. At first, I thought I waned to do special effects, but I had no experience. As I watched a lot of videos this summer I decided on camera operation. There are many different way you can move a camera to help tell a story in one scene and I heard camera operators get paid a lot.

2. What do you hope to accomplish this year with this topic (connecting your answer to each of the 4 ESLRs)?
  •  iPoly Citizen: Now that I won't be working with students and I'll be learning from professionals I hope to improve my people skills by representing positivity and responsibility.
  •  Effective Communicator: I hope to be able to communicate with my mentors and understand the directions I need to take to develop my skills.
  •  Effective Learner: I hope to become a effective listener and absorb all information from my mentor.
  •  Effective User of Technology: With my topic there are many different versions of the same equipment and it continues to change. I hope to learn how to use the equipment and different technical equipment quickly.
